Today is Monday, arguably the most hated day in the week. After a great weekend of hanging out with friends & family, a little relaxation, and general foolishness, getting up for work or school on a Monday morning can be tough. Monday is so bad, it has been proven statistically to be the time when most heart-attacks to take place.
Physical health issues aside, how does your mental health on Monday mornings (or any other day) affect the rest of that day? When you get up in the morning, are you excited to go to work? Are you excited to go to school? Do you have the right positive attitude to accomplish the tasks that lie ahead for that day to be successful?
The Mayo Clinic says that having a positive attitude can help you lower your stress level and even can lead to a healthier you. Having a positive attitude will also help you to become a successful person, but it isn’t always easy.
The daily decisions we make, and the resulting outcome of those decisions, are all reflective of the attitude we approach them with. Make a decision with a bad attitude, you generally get a bad outcome. Make a decision with a good attitude, you generally get a get outcome.
While it’s not rocket science, I”ll be the first to admit it’s not always easy to have a positive attitude, but your attitude is a choice you and you alone make. No one else can choose your attitude for you, and your behavior is reflective of such.

If you want to grow as a person, and as a leader, you must make the conscious effort everyday to have a positive attitude, despite the challenges and obstacles that are in your way.
Take it from Kyle Maynard, who is introduced below, and was recently chronicled on ESPN’s ‘Outside the Lines‘ for climbing Mount Kilamanjaro. If he can accomplish all that he has, and it started with a positive attitude, what can you accomplish in your life?
Attitude isn’t everything, but having a positive one is the best place to start.
