Through my membership in the Killer Tribes Community, I was recently afforded the opportunity to preview the newest book by Shawn Smucker, ‘Building a Life Out of Words’. Simply awesome.
In this book, Shawn opens up his life as he struggles to make sense of some of the changes that have taken place, causing him to move back home with his family to Lancaster County into the basement of his parents. Shawn candidly explores his own fears & doubts about how to provide for his family, following his own dreams, and discovering what God’s plan for him is. It’s an emotional roller coaster that takes the reader on a journey through his experiences, leaving lessons along the way that can be applied to our lives as a way to learn from the experiences of others.
For me, this book hit especially close to home, as in the last year I’ve taken a leap of faith launching ‘the Goble Group‘ to do something I love…helping others to accomplish their goals and achieve their dreams.
Yet, I have the same fears, doubts, and concerns that Shawn experienced and shares with us. At what point do I continue to follow my dream, not knowing when or where the next source of income will come from? What do I do when the bank account drops to less than $100, and I’m the sole provider of income for my family?
While I still don’t have the concrete answers to those questions, reading Shawn’s book gave a boost of confidence and reassurance that it’s possible, and reminded me that it’s not my plan I should be following, but God’s plan for me that I should be following. And God knows what he’s doing, far more than I do.
What is stopping you from taking that leap of faith to follow your dreams and building the life God designed for you?
